Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

This extraordinary traditional cuckoo clock by German clock makers Rombach & Haas is a replica of a half-day cuckoo clock roughly dating back to the year 1690. Made from high-quality Black Forest wood and bearing the motto of 'alle sind mein' (which is Dutch for 'all is mine'). The presence of skeletal 'grim-reaper' is a macarbe but tongue-in-cheek reminder to enjoy and cherish the time we have because death comes for all.

This clock features:

  • half-day mechanical movement.
  • A life-like animated cuckoo bird which calls once every half hour and then calls the number of hours upon the hour.
  • Animated skeleton.
  • A swinging pendulum.
  • Manual night-time sound shut-off.
  • 2-year warranty.

The scythe and skeleton are in constant animation, but on a more cheerful note, this traditional cuckoo clock also functions as a regular half-day cuckoo clock with the delightful sound of a cuckoo bird which calls every half hour and full hour. This cuckoo chime can be manually switched off at night, which means you can get a full night’s rest without worry. Designed in a unique style, this antique replica cuckoo clock has a wooden cuckoo, wooden clock dial, and wooden clock hands.

Imagine how this intricately crafted, Antique Replica 1690 1/2 day movement cuckoo clock could transform a wall or a room in your home or office. A skillfully handcrafted historic replica, it was created in Germany within the workshops of Rombach & Haas who are renowned clockmakers of the Black Forest region.

All of our carefully hand-crafted clocks come with FREE-SHIPPING to mainland UK & Europe and a 30-day 100% money back guarantee.
